FAQ

  • How is this different than therapy?

While much of my coaching training is rooted in psychotherapy, there are differences between working with a coach and a therapist. While my style of coaching does include revisiting past experiences, it is oriented with making actionable change in the present and future. I am not a licensed therapist and cannot work directly with Big-T trauma or diagnosed mental disorders.

  • Is this like energy work or Reiki?

No. I am not a healer in that sense and do no impose any direct energy onto you. I empower you through powerful questions, exercises and tools to find the answers and best next steps within yourself. I hold a safe container and guide you with my expertise, but healing and making change is ultimately up to you.

  • Do I need to be spiritual?

No. While spirituality and religion can be interweaved into our coaching if that is part of your belief system, the context and philosophies with which I coach are not in themselves related to spirituality or religion nor do they conflict with those. They are rooted in neuroscience, psychology and the human experiences we all share. I welcome all people into coaching, regardless of spiritual beliefs or religious orientation and am flexible on how those interplay in our sessions based on what works best for you.

  • What if I don't know what I want?

We can all feel a little lost at times and need some help getting clarity. I can work with you on your values, purpose and vision to help you get insights and next steps into what you might be looking for. Though I would question whether there is some small part of you deep down that might know something about what you want, but have limiting beliefs and blocks preventing you from surfacing it.

  • Can I still do coaching if I do have or suspect I might have Big-T Trauma?

Let's talk to determine what would be best for you and your situation. I am Trauma-Informed, so if something unexpected comes up I am trained to resource you and help you establish safety. If you know you have Big-T trauma, but you have previously or are currently working with a therapist on it, coaching can still be great to supplement or utilize for other areas of your life.
